Intelligent SERCOS interface Master
CIF 50-SCM is a complete ready-to-use plug-in module providing the SERCOS interface hardware for digital intelligent drives on PC PCI systems. It handles all communication and synchronization tasks between the drives and the controller, providing a fast, economical and efficient solution for the connection of digital intelligent drives to a PC.
The application specific controller interchanges its data with CIF 50-SCM via a dual-port memory. CIF 50-SCM independently performs initialization, communication and diagnostics between controller and drives using its own microprocessor. The controller has access to all data to be exchanged.
A few basic inputs such as telegram type, number of drives or cycle time have to be set only once. The exchange of cyclic data such as command values, actual values and control or status signals is activated via transmission of a synchronization signal per each communication cycle between CIF
50-SCM and the controller. Within a specific time frame in the synchronization signal, the controller cyclically determines new command values, loads them into the dual-port memory and likewise, reads the actual values out. Thus the controller has access to all data to be exchanged with the drive as if it were an internal control register. The synchronization signal can be generated by either the controller or by CIF 50-SCM.
Passive SERCOS II Interface Cards
Passive SERCOS interface modules supplied by Hilscher include PCI, PCMCIA and PC/104 interface cards, which include the SERCON816 ASIC. They can operate as master or slave. A SERCOS driver is available for control of these modules.

netX SERCOS III Network Co-Processor
Hilscher has integrated the SERCOS III core into a General Purpose Communication Controller (GPCC), the netX, an ARM926-based System on Chip network communication controller. The netX controllers are able to support a number of different Industrial Ethernet protocols. Thus, it is possible to implement control and drive devices that can easily be adjusted to the respective Industrial Ethernet protocol simply by using the appropriate driver software. This is a huge advantage, not just for the manufacturers of components. The OEM needs to handle only one type of wiring. The end user profits from not having to use different hardware configurations in case he is using several different Industrial Ethernet protocols in his plant, such as SERCOS III, Profinet and Ethernet IP.
