SERCOS interface Interoperability Demo at Pack Expo 2004
In our last issue, we discussed the Pack Profile, which was created by the SERCOS organizations to further improve the multi-vendor interoperability of servo controls and drives for packaging machinery. The existing SERCOS interface function groups and the corresponding parameters were mapped into profile types for three of the six application classes defined by the OMAC Packaging Workgroup. A Pack Profile conformance test has been developed and is available as an update for the SERCOS Conformizer.
A SERCOS interface Interoperability Demo, with various manufacturer's SERCOS interface products that conform to the Pack Profile, will be on display in the OMAC Packaging Workgroup booth at the Pack Expo Show, November 7-11, 2004. The demo will be in booth No. C-67, which is in the Associations Pavilion, strategically located at the entrance to Upper Level McCormick Place North in Chicago.
This demo will have 4 controllers, each running 4-5 servo drives -- one each from Automation Intelligence, Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth, Danaher Motion (Kollmorgen), and Rockwell Automation. Each controller will also handle I/O modules from Automation Intelligence, Beckhoff and Bosch Rexroth.
Pack Expo 2004 is the first venue for the Interoperability Demo. It will also be displayed at three upcoming shows in Europe.
