SERCOS North America was established in 1994 as a Not-for-Profit Illinois corporation to facilitate and promote the use of the digital SERCOS interface between controls, digital drives and I/O. Its purpose is to function as a central coordinator and database for members and activities in North America, while expanding the understanding of the international SERCOS interface standard and its applications.

Membership
Members within the association are manufacturers and users of controls, drives and other automation components, as well as research institutes, educational institutes and other organizations with an interest in SERCOS.
