Real-time Ethernet is required to transmit large quantities of data with a high data rate over all levels of the communication pyramid at the low cost of office components. The fact is that different Real-time Ethernet designs for data minimizing, minimal jitter and line topologies require additional hardware and only partly, or to a limited extent, permit the use of standard Ethernet components.

Hilscher's cifX provides a solution that supports multiple real-time Ethernet interfaces, including SERCOS III. It is reduced to the netX network controller and an SDRAM and thus offers the maximum of performance, functionality and flexibility. The protocols for cifX are delivered as loadable firmware on a CD, providing a simple way to reconfigure the system for various Ethernet protocols. A license code is required for master applications.

Cards are also available for PCI Express, MINI PCI, and PCI104.
